The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that Ayr’s Chantelle Muir and Cumnock’s Billie Murray are to receive the John Mather Award at Ayrshire College; notes that the John Mather award is organised by the John Mather Trust, which rewards Ayrshire College graduates who have learned a trade and gained employment, an apprenticeship, or have set up their own business; understands that both Chantelle and Billie are apprentice bricklayers for housebuilding company, Persimmons Homes; further understands that Persimmons Homes works in partnership with Ayrshire College and, after seeing the girls' work through the College, offered them an SVQ level 6 apprenticeship, becoming the first female bricklayers for the company in Scotland; congratulates both Chantelle and Billie on this achievement, and wishes them continued success in the construction industry, and all the best for the future.
