The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Cross Party Group (CPG) on Accident Prevention and Safety Awareness on reaching its 10th anniversary; understands that the purpose of the CPG is to promote all aspects of safety through safety awareness and accident prevention, serving in the public interest to reduce the considerable loss of life attributable to preventable accidents in Scotland in a variety of settings; further understands that the group considers a variety of safety issues within environments such as households, workplaces, roads, nature and other places where accidents occur; understands that, since its establishment in 2013, the group has hosted over 150 member organisations and individuals and remains one of the best attended CPGs in the Scottish Parliament; acknowledges what it considers the vital role that the CPG and its dedicated members have played in advancing safety policy in Scotland, and believes that its efforts have been borne out in the increasing prominence that accident prevention and safety awareness enjoy in Scottish political discourse; commends what it sees as the tireless advocacy of the CPG’s members and its secretariat, Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Scotland, for their immense contribution to the Scottish policy landscape, and wishes them all the best in their future endeavours.
