The motion

That the Parliament commends North Lanarkshire Active Schools, Sports Development, the staff of Braidhurst High School and all the girls who took part in the Girls’ School of Football festival, held at Braidhurst High; understands that over 350 P6 and P7 girls took part, showcasing their skills and building on their team work; considers that women’s football has gained support, attracted large crowds and empowered many young girls to take up the sport; notes that historical records from the 16th century describe ladies' football games across Scotland, as well as the first Scotland women’s international match against England in 1881; believes that the Girls’ School of Football provides an opportunity for young girls to develop their talents and reach their goals, and wishes all the staff and pupils the very best for the future.
