Dounby Primary School Sculpture on Show at Scottish National Gallery in Edinburgh

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Dounby Primary School, in Orkney, on creating a whole-school art installation, which will go on show at the Scottish National Gallery in spring 2023; understands that Dounby Primary School is only one of four schools in Scotland to be tasked with creating a whole-school installation as part of the project, Your Art World, led by the Creative Learning Network and the National Galleries of Scotland; further understands that Trashy, the large 3D figure made of recycled items, inspired by the need to protect Orkney's natural environment and wildlife, will be surrounded by a protective wall of around 140 boxes made by every pupil in the school; recognises that Trashy will be joined by small character "Bob", who is currently making a whistle-stop tour of the country, visiting schools and landmarks, including the Scottish Parliament on 30 March 2023, en route to joining the installation in Edinburgh; thanks local businesses, including McAdie and Reeve and Pentland Ferries for their support of the project, and commends everyone at Dounby Primary School on creating such a symbolic project with sustainability at its heart.
