The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Hippodrome Silent Film Festival, which is hosted in the Bo’ness Hippodrome cinema, on its upcoming programme celebrating silent film; understands that the Hippodrome in Bo’ness was Scotland’s first purpose-built cinema, constructed in 1912; further understands that this is the 13th year that the Silent Film Festival, originally established in 2011 and otherwise known as the HippFest, has occurred; notes that the festival runs an annual programme across several days to celebrate silent film and live music; recognises that this event combines unique screenings accompanied by new commissions from established and emerging artists; understands that the HippFest will take place from 22 to 26 March 2023, providing an opportunity for engagement and audience development through workshops, talks and pop-up satellite events across the district, alongside scheduled programming; notes the hard work of the HippFest team and volunteers to bring this event of rich cultural creativity to Bo’ness each year; congratulates all those involved in developing the Silent Film Festival, and wishes them the best of luck with the festival.
