The motion

That the Parliament welcomes World Water Day on 22 March 2023; understands that this day is intended to help accelerate change in order to solve what it sees as the worldwide water and sanitation crisis; considers that any disfunction with good water availability has drastic impacts on other areas of society such as health, hunger, jobs, education and industry; further considers that millions of people and countless schools, businesses, healthcare, farms and factories are held back across the world by not having access to safe water and sanitation; understands that World Water Day 2023 will coincide with the United Nations 2023 Water Conference in New York, offering a good opportunity to make meaningful progress towards ensuring safe water for all; further understands that 1.4 million people die annually and 74 million will have their lives shortened by diseases related to poor quality of water; hopes that the United Nations conference sees progress made, and thanks the charities and NGOs across the world that are fighting for the rights of those without safe water and sanitation.
