Aberdeen BP Staff Fundraising Group to Host Charity Ceilidh
The motion
That the Parliament commends the actions of the BP Coast to Coast Cycling fundraising group in organising the charity ceilidh, which is set to take place on 25 March 2023; understands that the 70-strong BP staff fundraising group has raised over £2 million for local charities over the course of the group’s existence, dating from 2008; notes that in 2023, in its first big fundraising event, the group aims to boost Ythan Valley Rotary Club and Rotary Club Kharkiv International’s drive to provide 12,000 laptops for school pupils in Ukraine; further notes that the ceilidh will also be raising money for Northsound Cash for Kids, ACIS Youth and the Archie Foundation’s Baird Family Hospital Appeal; understands that these same charities will be again supported by the cycle group through its annual cycle at the end of May, which takes the cyclists from Gairloch, on the west coast, to Aberdeen over the course of three days; recognises the work that the BP Coast to Coast fundraising group has done for good causes over the years, and wishes it all the best in its upcoming 250-mile bike ride.
