East Renfrewshire Carers Support Project

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the launch of a new service to support carers in East Renfrewshire; notes that the service has been developed by Voluntary Action East Renfrewshire and the East Renfrewshire Carers Centre and that it will offer short breaks for carers; understands that the nature of the project is for trained volunteers to visit a cared-for person and that this will allow the regular carer an opportunity to take some rest; acknowledges that the initiative is funded by the Promoting Variety in Short Breaks programme and that two informal events for carers are taking place in Eastwood in late March/early April 2023 at the Eglinton Arms Hotel in Eaglesham, and Parklands Hotel and Country Club in Newton Mearns; recognises what it sees as the outstanding efforts of carers in Eastwood, and across Scotland, to look after and care for loved ones, and welcomes the joint initiative by Voluntary Action East Renfrewshire and the East Renfrewshire Carers Centre to support people with caring responsibilities for vulnerable family members.
