East Renfrewshire Dementia Walking Initiative

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the work being carried out by East Renfrewshire Carers Centre, Alzheimer Scotland, Voluntary Action East Renfrewshire and Mearns Kirk Helping Hands to launch the year-long initiative, Dementia Walking Buddies; understands that East Renfrewshire Carers Centre has been awarded funding by Shared Care Scotland to deliver the initiative and that the organisation will work with partners to provide essential one-to-one support; recognises that many people who are living with dementia can experience difficulty when they are walking; believes that the programme will offer individuals vital support and good company when going out for a walk, and commends all of the organisations involved with this important project to support East Renfrewshire residents who are living with dementia.
