Landmark Deal with Scottish Public Sector's First £15 per Hour Minimum Wage
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the news from the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union that its members have secured a pay deal that will deliver what it considers a landmark minimum wage of £15 per hour for the lowest paid workers employed by the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body; understands that this pay deal is the first of its kind across public bodies in Scotland; further understands that the deal, secured by PCS, Prospect and the FDA, could be worth over £6,000 to employees on the lowest pay; believes that this result reaffirms the positive role that trade unions play in the workplace; celebrates what it sees as this progressive move, and calls on employers everywhere to follow suit and pay a wage that provides what it considers to be a decent standard of living.
