Congratulating Shawlands on Being Named as One of the Best Places to Live in the UK
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Shawlands, in Glasgow’s southside, on being named as one of the best places to live in the UK for the second year in a row, as reported in The Sunday Times Best Places to Live 2023 Guide; acknowledges that this accolade comes after it was named as one of the world’s coolest neighbourhoods by Time Out in 2022; notes that factors taken into account by the judging panel included local schools, transport infrastructure, broadband speeds, culture, access to green spaces and the health of the local high street; commends the work of small, independent businesses for striving to provide a broad and attractive retail offering, and wishes local residents and businesses well in continuing to develop Shawlands as a destination.
