Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Ranks in Top 10 of QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) on securing a position within the top 10 of the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings for its subject area; notes that this is the seventh time the RCS has been placed in the top 10 ranking since the rankings were launched in 2016; understands that the rankings are used as an international benchmark by peers, the creative sector and prospective students; considers that despite what it sees as the wider challenges impacting multiple sectors, including the arts and education, to be consistently ranked highly at a time of significant challenge, demonstrates the hard work, commitment and tenacity of all students, staff, alumni, governors, trustees, partners, donors and audiences, who engage with the RCS; notes that the Convener of the Cross-Party Group on Music would like to thank the RCS, on behalf of the Cross-Party Group, for all the hard work that it does to ensure that Scotland has a creative, innovative conservatoire; congratulates the RCS for securing another international top 10 ranking, and wishes it all the best for the future.
