Larbert High School Pupil is Regional Finalist at Scottish Young Musician of the Year 2023

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Esther Kallow of Larbert High School in Stenhousemuir on being selected to compete at the Scottish Young Musician of the Year 2023 awards; notes that Esther plays the oboe; further notes that each local authority in Scotland is asked to choose a regional finalist, who will go forward to play at the National Final on 21 May 2023 at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow; notes that Scottish Young Musicians Competitions are overseen by the Music Education Partnership Group with members across Scotland; understands that each regional finalist will be asked to perform a programme of up to seven minutes in length, either solo or accompanied; notes that the overall winners of both Solo Performer and Ensemble Performance at the National Final will be awarded a trophy depicting the Maid of Morven, which is designed by Alexander Stoddart, the King’s Sculptor in Ordinary in Scotland, as well as cash prizes, masterclasses, coaching, recording sessions and festival performances; congratulates Esther on being selected as a regional finalist at the Scottish Young Musician of the Year 2023, and wishes her well for the National Final on 21 May 2023.
