2nd Gourock Boys’ Brigade Celebrate 125th Years of Service
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates 2nd Gourock Boys’ Brigade (BB), one of the oldest youth organisations in Inverclyde, as it prepares to mark 125 years of service; notes that the company was formally registered on 1 March 1898 by first Captain John Stewart, who was a serving member of the first BB company in the world, 1st Glasgow, which was founded in 1883; understands that 2nd Gourock BB will be marking its anniversary with a charity ball later in 2023, as it reflects on more than a century of achievements; further understands that Captain Alan Aitken MBE is at the forefront of the BB’s plans having been proudly leading the company for almost 50 years along with his wife, Helen; thanks Alan, Helen and all those involved with 2nd Gourock BB for their commitment to the BB movement and supporting the young people who attend, and wishes the company and the wider St John’s Church family all the best as they celebrate this milestone together.
