Inverclyde Academy Awarded LGBT Charter Bronze
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Inverclyde Academy on achieving the LGBT Bronze Charter mark; recognises what it sees as the hard work and dedication of pupils and staff in achieving this prestigious award from LGBT Youth Scotland; understands that the campaign ran by the pupils was powerful, well-organised and important for trans and non-binary young people in the school, and helped to address concerns of micro-aggressions and gender-based violence; believes that the policies, in particular its anti-bullying policy, were well-written and well-considered for the young people in Inverclyde Academy; understands that LGBT Youth Scotland welcomes the training and the review of policies, practice and resources that aim to ensure that Inverclyde Academy goes beyond meeting legislative needs and is as inclusive as it can be for pupils, staff, parents and the wider community, and hopes that other schools in Inverclyde will be inspired to engage with the LGBT Charter.
