The motion

That the Parliament extends its sincere congratulations to all the winners and finalists of the annual 2023 Scottish First Aid Awards, which were hosted by St Andrew’s First Aid (SAFA) on 31 March 2023; acknowledges that over 400 people attended the awards and that more than 60 nominations across nine categories were received in 2023, each one highlighting an exceptional example of first aid intervention, skill and sharing best practice; extends its gratitude to the SAFA for organising these awards, which, it understands, celebrate truly inspirational people who have stepped up and helped those in need of assistance, whether through performing CPR or dealing with injuries; recognises that, as Scotland’s only dedicated first aid charity, SAFA campaigns to raise awareness of the importance of first aid and aims to preserve the lives of people across Scotland through the provision of high standard training and education initiatives, as well as emergency first aid at public events; notes that SAFA has been protecting local communities through first aid for over 140 years, and understands that the funds raised through the Scottish First Aid Awards will ensure that SAFA's work in local communities continues, bringing the charity closer to its mission of creating a nation of life-savers.
