Peeblesshire Foodbank and Tweeddale Youth Action Slow Cook
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Peeblesshire Foodbank and Tweeddale Youth Action on the successful execution of its Slow Cooking Classics project; understands that the project involved Tweeddale Youth Action developing and filming tutorials for 11 slow cooker recipes, which were then uploaded to YouTube, where the channel now has 259 subscribers and 9,830 views; further understands that Peeblesshire Foodbank distributed all of the ingredients to 34 foodbank households to enable them to cook their own meals, using the video tutorials to guide them; notes that Slow Cooking Classics ran for 10 weeks, finishing at the end of February 2023, and that an event was held to celebrate its success on 22 March 2023; welcomes the news that the project resulted in 2,256 meals feeding more than 130 people, totalling 1.9 tonnes of food, and that through its fresh food orders, £1,683.52 was invested in local High Street retailers; recognises the value of cooking from scratch and supporting people to learn to cook, and congratulates everyone involved at Peeblesshire Foodbank and Tweeddale Youth Action on the success of this innovative project.
