The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Notre Dame High School in Greenock on being awarded First Class at the prestigious Scottish First Aid Awards ceremony, which was held on 31 March 2023; notes that the annual event, which was organised by Scotland's only dedicated first aid charity, St Andrew's First Aid (SAFA), saw the high school take home the First Class 2023 Award, which acknowledges educational institutes that promote an exemplary level of first aid knowledge and practice; understands that, after participating in SAFA’s ready for life programme, the school has officially introduced first aid into the curriculum, allowing it to teach valuable lifesaving skills and accredit those who are passionate to become first aiders in the community of Greenock; believes that Notre Dame High School's commitment to first aid education sets a positive example for other schools in Scotland, and that the school's achievement is a testament to the effort and commitment demonstrated by both the staff and students, and acknowledges the hard work and dedication of all those involved in promoting first aid knowledge and practice in Greenock and Inverclyde, including finalist Binnie Street Children’s Centre, Inverclyde Libraries and SAFA’s Inverclyde Company, who were also nominated in two other categories at the awards ceremony, namely the Community First Aid Champion and Corps Company of the Year categories.
