The motion

That the Parliament congratulates pupils from St Mary’s Primary choir in Largs on taking first place at the 97th edition of the prestigious Ayrshire Music Festival, and winning the Kathleen Dippie Memorial Shield; commends the choir, which won due to its ability to capture the character of songs with energy and commitment to the rhythmic life; understands that the choir was only formed in October 2022 by organiser Jane McDonald in response to pupil interest, after the previous choir disbanded due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions; notes that the choir began singing at its Christmas carol concert, before also performing at Yuletide and for the residents of Haylie House Residential Care Home; understands that the choir also unexpectedly won the Saville Trophy for the best choir performance of all primary and secondary school choirs, and wishes Ms McDonald, and everyone at St Mary’s choir, all the best in their future endeavours.
