The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the U15 Scottish Schools’ FA Girls squad for being named winners of the Bob Docherty trophy at Parklea pitches in Port Glasgow on 6 April 2023; understands that the squad had a tough game ahead of them as both Scotland and England were equal on five points going into the match, making it a winner-takes-all decider, but that Scotland came out on top to win 2-1; understands that the girls’ results leading up to the win included a 1-1 draw against the Republic of Ireland, which Scotland won 3-2 on penalties, and a 2-0 win against Northern Ireland; further understands that Taylor Coultar from Inverclyde was one of 18 girls included in the squad from across Scotland, and that the coaching staff are made up of current or retired teachers and school support staff, one of whom is Gillian Duffy from Greenock; appreciates that the last time Scotland won this trophy was in 2015 when another Inverclyde player was in the squad, Amy Muir, who is now a Scotland women's national team player; commends the players and coaching staff for their hard work and commitment to growing the women’s grassroots game, and wishes the team all the best for the future.
