Kirkintilloch Amateur Theatre Club Celebrates 100 Years of Drama

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates community-based amateur theatre club, Kirkintilloch Players, on marking its 100th anniversary this year; believes that the club, based at the Turret Theatre, Eastside, Kirkintilloch, is one of the oldest of its kind in Scotland; understands that the Players will celebrate this milestone with a special centenary exhibition at the Auld Kirk Museum at Kirkintilloch in April 2023, showcasing photographs, costumes, props and artefacts from the past ten decades; congratulates the theatre group on its successes over the years, but, most notably, on taking the trophy at the finals of the prestigious Scottish Community Drama Association one-act play festival in both 2010 and 2017; commends the club for providing opportunities for the local community to participate in and watch theatre of all kinds since its establishment in 1923; praises the club for its ethos that amateur drama is not so much about winning trophies as working as a team, challenging yourself, enjoyment and entertaining others, and wishes it all the very best for the future.
