The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Glasgow resident, Frank McArdle, of the Garngad-based Irish Minstrels Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann and the famous St Roch's Ceili Band, on receiving the prestigious Gradam Ceoil Outstanding Contribution Award; notes that the Gradam Ceoil awards, hosted by Irish language station, TG4, have a global recognition in world music; understands that the award is in recognition of the thousands of musicians who have been taught music for free on a Tuesday night at St Roch’s secondary school in Glasgow for over 40 years; considers that this award reaffirms the close cultural links between Scotland and Ireland, and what it sees as the positive impact that the Irish community has had in Glasgow; commends what it considers to be the immeasurable impact that Frank has made on lives and families across Scotland and Ireland, and congratulates Frank, his wife, Marie, and his daughters, Eileen, Catriona, Roisin, Patricia and Siobhan, on this prestigious and deserved recognition.
