The 2023 Scottish First Aid Awards: Celebrating SAFA’s East Kilbride Company

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates all the winners at the Scottish First Aid Awards, which took place on 31 March 2023, for their outstanding achievements in the field of first aid; understands that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the annual awards ceremony, hosted by St Andrew's First Aid (SAFA), which recognises extraordinary people, schools, communities and employers across Scotland who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to make their communities safer by delivering the highest standards of first aid; notes that the record-breaking year saw more nominations than ever before, in recognition of heroic acts across 10 categories; recognises what it sees as the salient role that SAFA’s East Kilbride Company plays in promoting the importance of first aid in the community; congratulates East Kilbride’s Arleen Hamilton and Heather Muir on their nomination for the Douglas Bremner First Aid Volunteer of the Year Award; acknowledges what it sees as the exceptional courage, dedication and skill demonstrated by all finalists in providing life-saving support to those in need, and thanks them for their invaluable contribution to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of Scotland’s communities.
