Burgh Primary School Achieves Gold Level Reading School Accreditation

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Burgh Primary School, in Rutherglen, on achieving its Gold Level accreditation from the Scottish Book Trust’s Reading Schools programme; celebrates the commitment of the staff and the entire school community to building a culture of reading for their learners; recognises that the school has achieved the highest level of accreditation, by sharing the expertise it developed as a Reading School at Core and Silver levels, and spreading its enthusiasm for reading by donating books throughout its local community; notes what it sees as the important role that reading for pleasure plays in attainment across the curriculum, and in the development of critical thinking, creativity, empathy and resilience, and wishes the school every success in sustaining a positive reading culture for future generations of pupils.
