The motion

That the Parliament welcomes reports that residents of Portlethen and Newtonhill in Aberdeenshire can now benefit from the best broadband speeds and reliability available with a new full fibre broadband network in the area; believes that this is thanks to investment by Scottish independent broadband builder and provider GoFibre; understands that this investment will connect approximately 4,500 local premises to the power of full fibre broadband; recognises GoFibre’s reported commitment to continue building its network throughout Aberdeenshire, having already connected residents in Stonehaven and commenced plans to connect an additional 4,600 homes and businesses in the town; commends GoFibre in what it sees as this significant step forward in its aim to help close the digital divide across rural areas across Scotland, and extends best wishes for future success.
