Celebrating the Contribution of the Rotary Club of Cambuslang
The motion
That the Parliament notes, with sadness, that the Rotary Club of Cambuslang has reportedly made the decision to disband after 54 years; understands that the group raised an incredible £3,500 in its final fundraiser on 24 March 2023; welcomes that, with its remaining funds, the club has been able to donate over £17,000 to a range of charities in the 2022-23 Rotary year, including £11,000 raised at fundraising events; understands that the group will host its final dinner on 14 June 2023, with current and former members, friends of the group and invited guests; congratulates the group on what it sees as its positive contribution to the area, since it was founded in 1969, through community projects and fundraising for charities such as Starter Packs Glasgow, Refuweegee, The Nurture Society, and international causes including Humanitarian Aid for Ukraine and Classrooms for Malawi; celebrates the club’s driving mission of "Service above Self", and wishes all current and former members all the best for the future.
