113th Burnside Scouts Squirrel Section Celebrates 1st Anniversary

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the 113th Burnside Scouts Squirrel section on its one-year anniversary; understands that six of the group’s members will receive their Acorn award, which is the top badge for those in the section, as part of these celebrations; welcomes the continued roll-out of Scouts Scotland’s Squirrel groups to four- and five-year-olds across the country, in light of research reportedly highlighting the positive impact of early access to non-formal education on the lives of children and young people; celebrates what it understands is the growing demand for an active Squirrel programme across Lanarkshire, and the continued training of new volunteer leaders to meet this demand; recognises what it sees as the contribution of 113th Burnside Scouts to supporting young people in their personal development, and empowering them to positively contribute to their community; notes the supporting role of parents and carers in the success of the group, and wishes all the best to everyone involved for the future.
