Grangemouth High Pupils Participate in Youth Philanthropy Initiative to Benefit Community

That the Parliament congratulates the winners of the Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) Final, from Grangemouth High School; understands that the YPI is an active citizenship programme, which aims to empower young people to make a difference in their communities while developing their own skill set; notes that the YPI was introduced to Scotland in 2008 by the Wood Foundation, engaging with over 270,000 young people since its establishment, and is responsible for over £6 million in charitable giving; recognises that each school is responsible for directing a grant of £3,000 to a local charity, which is championed by its students through a unique programme of teamwork, research and competition; understands that four groups of Grangemouth High pupils took part in the YPI Final; notes that the winners of the event, which took place on 19 April 2023, Bethany, Rachel, Summer, Josh, Ryan, William and Daniel, had chosen the Kersiebank Community Project as their benefactor of the £3,000 grant; recognises that the winning team of pupils conceptualised, planned and produced a video depicting the challenges that families are facing in the context of the current cost of living crisis; understands the impact that this funding will have in supporting Kersiebank Community Project in the delivery of its services, which include activities, support, learning opportunities and emergency food provision for the local community in Grangemouth; congratulates the winning team on successfully securing the £3,000 grant to benefit the Kersiebank Community Project and those in need locally, and wishes all those involved all the best for the future.
