Tribute Gig for Gavin JD Munro

The motion

That the Parliament celebrates the organisation of a special tribute gig titled, “Different Lonesome: The Songs of Gavin JD Munro” on 13 May 2023 at Perth Concert Hall for Perth singer, Gavin JD Munro, who passed away in July 2022; understands that Gavin JD Munro was a popular songwriter locally and was the lead singer of the band, Red Pine Timber Co, with a rich legacy spanning three decades in the Perthshire and Scottish music scene, as well as fronting acts such as Red Bus, Raindogs, Wolftrain and Southpaw, whilst being the founder of Clearwater Studies in Perth, a teacher, a mentor and an open mic host; notes that ticket sales will raise money for two charities, Help Musicians and Andy’s Man Club, which, it understands, will both be raising awareness of the support they provide during the event, and commends all those involved in organising this event, and wishes them every success in their fundraising efforts.
