The motion

That the Parliament recognises that a record number of adult heart transplants were reportedly performed at NHS Golden Jubilee in Clydebank between 2022 and 2023, with 40 life-saving operations carried out by specialists at the Scottish National Advanced Heart Failure Service (SNAHFS) over the 12 months; believes that innovation in technique and advancements in technology, such as an organ care system to allow surgeons to transplant hearts from donors who die after circulatory death, have increased the availability of hearts for transplant and have also boosted the success rate, which, it understands, is currently at 95% for 90-day survival; notes that the SNAHFS team aims to build on the 2023 transplant figure, which brings the total number to 490 since the first transplant was performed in January 1992; thanks all of the staff at the hospital for their continuous hard work, and commends them for this great achievement.
