NHS Golden Jubilee in Clydebank Carries Out Over 100 Orthopaedic Joint Replacements with Pioneering ROSA Robot

Lodged by Marie McNair (Scottish National Party) Standard Motion 20 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament commends the NHS Golden Jubilee, Clydebank, on becoming the first NHS Scotland health board to carry out more than 100 orthopaedic joint replacements with the pioneering ROSA robot; understands that the hospital now has the second highest number of ROSA procedures carried out in the UK; further understands that this milestone comes just a few short months after NHS Golden Jubilee celebrated its 1,000th robotic orthopaedic joint replacement overall, as it continues to expand its use of the technology for patients, providing, it believes, more precise operations, potentially shorter hospital stays and quicker recoveries; considers that robotic surgery has the potential to have significant long-term benefits for patients and the NHS as a whole, by reducing the likelihood of patients requiring repeat joint replacements in later life, and congratulates all involved in this achievement.
