Ryan Carlin Fundraising for Beatson Cancer Care
The motion
That the Parliament commends Ryan Carlin, from Motherwell, who will be donating £500 from every boxing match in which he competes to the Beatson Cancer Centre; understands that, six years ago, the centre helped Ryan’s grandad, Harry, who had cancer; further understands that Ryan began boxing 10 years ago and progressed to the Scottish National Elite Team, and that he is the three-times Scottish ABA Champion, and one-time British ABA Champion; considers that the Beatson is an internationally-renowned cancer centre; understands that it is the busiest in the UK in terms of clinical activity and patient numbers, and the second-largest cancer centre in the UK, and that it delivers all of the radiotherapy and much of the chemotherapy to the population of the west of Scotland, with a catchment area of 2.5 million people, which is around 60% of Scotland’s population; thanks the Beatson Cancer Centre for their vital support to cancer patients and their families across Scotland, and wishes Ryan and Harry the best for the future.
