The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the dedicated staff from Inverclyde Royal Hospital (IRH) on winning a clutch of awards at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Celebrating Success Awards, for their outstanding work in helping patients across several fields; understands that Dr Abigail Gunn, stroke consultant at IRH, won the Gold Award under the Better Care category for her work in reducing waiting times and A&E pressures after developing acute assessment and short stay units, all while she continued with her usual job, giving up her own time to ensure that this was implemented; recognises that occupational therapist, Sandra Forbes, triumphed in the Volunteer category, in aid of her fundraising efforts to create and maintain the IRH Rainbow Garden, which, it understands, is now a key feature loved by patients and staff alike; appreciates that the Clyde sector Team of the Year award went to the emergency department staff at IRH, and the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) in Paisley, after judges said that they had worked determinedly and consistently to provide quality unscheduled care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and had supported each other through significant workload challenges; notes that a special award of excellence went to all staff working across the NHS board’s unscheduled and urgent care services for their work throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond, and thanks all those that work in the IRH and across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
