£25,607 Raised for Portobello Town Hall Reopening
The motion
That the Parliament pays tribute to the charitable body, Portobello Central, which has raised £25,607 that will go towards reopening Portobello Town Hall and carrying out essential renovation and maintenance work; understands that Portobello Central has agreed with City of Edinburgh Council to manage Portobello Town Hall on a 25-year lease; further understands that, with the Town Hall under community management, the group plans to open the building to the public later in 2023 and operate as a multi-purpose venue; understands that hundreds of volunteer hours have gone into bringing the Town Hall back to life, and believes that this remarkable fundraising effort will go a long way towards restoring what it sees as this cherished institution.
