Save the Scottish Wildcat from Extinction
The motion
That the Parliament recognises NatureScot’s recent conclusions that Scottish wildcat populations are too few to be viable; understands that this population loss is due to hybridisation, disease, and habitat loss; supports the plans of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland to reintroduce wildcats into the Cairngorms National Park; encourages ongoing conservation efforts to save the Scottish wildcat, and urges the Scottish Government to take action to remove the threats to wildcat populations in order to allow wild populations of this native mammal to recover.
