Coatbridge Friends Raise Nearly £25,000 for Various Charities

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates a group of 22 Coatbridge-based friends, who recently took part in a fundraising challenge for Glasgow Children’s Hospital; understands that the challenge involved climbing Ben Lomond via the steeper and more difficult Ptarmigan path, kayaking 11 miles from there to Balloch, and then cycling 30 miles back to finish at Coatbridge Main Street; praises the group for completing the challenge and raising nearly £5,000 for the children’s hospital; notes that that their 2023 fundraising follows on from £3,000 raised for Cash for Kids by climbing Ben Nevis in 2017, £1,500 raised for Williams Syndrome by undertaking the Three Peaks Challenge in 2019, £2,500 raised for Chris’s House by undertaking the Loch Lomond challenge in 2020, £3,629 raised for Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) by undertaking the Glencoe Highlander Challenge in 2021, and £8,650 raised for the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) by undertaking the Loch Lomond Challenge in 2022; acknowledges what it sees as the outstanding community benefits that are fostered by engaging in these fundraising challenges; wishes the friends continued success in their challenges and fundraising, and commends all who contributed to the campaign by taking part, promoting the events or donating money to the campaign.
