The motion

That the Parliament welcomes Scottish Bus Week, taking place from 22 to 28 May 2023; recognises that Scottish Bus Week is an opportunity to celebrate and highlight the role that buses can play in some of the biggest challenges we face; acknowledges the support for this week from Paths for All, First Bus, Stagecoach, Lothian Buses, Borders Buses, West Coat Motors and Glasgow Citybus; believes that buses can help improve health, assist Scotland's strategy to tackle the climate emergency, build a fairer transport system, and improve access to opportunities; further believes that buses can reduce emissions, air pollution and inequalities across Scotland's communities, while also providing a significant contribution to the economy; considers that buses also provide highly-skilled jobs in manufacturing, and reduce congestion, which, it understands, can cost Scotland £2 billion a year; wishes to congratulate the organisers and sponsors of Scottish Bus Week, and further wishes to show its gratitude to those who deliver bus services to Scotland's communities.
