The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the recent announcement from NHS Grampian, which has joined healthcare facilities from 36 countries around the world by partnering with the DAISY Foundation to help recognise the clinical skills and compassion that nurses and midwives provide to patients and families, by launching the DAISY Awards; understands that the DAISY Foundation, which stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System, was formed in 1999 in memory of J Patrick Barnes; notes that the award is now recognised for its success in promoting patient and family-centred care, improving job satisfaction and retention, and celebrating the crucial work that nurses and midwives do; understands that the ethos of the DAISY Award is about celebrating the nurses and midwives who do so much for so many people, and urges patients, carers or family members who have experienced or observed extraordinary, compassionate care to nominate a nurse or midwife for the DAISY Awards.
