EK82 Handball Club, Winner of the Men’s Scottish Cup 2023

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates East Kilbride 82 Handball Club on winning the Men’s Scottish Cup 2023, by beating Livingston Handball Club at Scotland’s Sports Performance Centre, Oriam; believes that this is a fitting achievement for EK82, which was founded in 1982, following the merger of East Kilbride Handball Club and Allander Handball club in Barrhead, and recently celebrated its 50th anniversary in East Kilbride; commends EK82 for its many and varied achievements over the years, including taking part in Great Britain’s first ever women's match against Bell College, Hamilton, in 1972, representing the British Handball Association in the European Cup in 1983-84 and winning both the Scottish and British Leagues; notes its long-standing head coach, Michael Lavery, for his contribution over the years, and wishes EK82 all the very best as they go on to pursue further achievements for the club.
