Lodged by Carol Mochan (Scottish Labour) Standard Motion 35 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament notes that Dementia Awareness Week 2023 takes place between 29 May and 4 June; understands that every annual Dementia Awareness Week focuses on raising awareness of dementia and improving the lives of people living with dementia, their families and carers, with consideration being given this year to the stigma that people with dementia continue to face, with a particular focus on those facing it earlier in life; recognises that, although dementia is most common in the older population, it can affect people in their 50s, 40s, or even younger; commends the work of organisations that, it considers, play such important roles in supporting those living with dementia, such as Alzheimer Scotland, and encourages people across Scotland to look at events being held in their community to mark Dementia Awareness Week as part of a collective effort to remove stigma, raise awareness and improve services.
