Braidbar Primary School and Nursery Class Commended by Education Scotland
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Braidbar Primary School and Nursery Class in Giffnock on receiving a very commendable inspection report from Education Scotland following a visit in March 2023; recognises that the inspection team identified a range of strengths, including highlighting that pupils are articulate, confident, enthusiastic, very proud of their school, that they feel safe, valued and respected and that there are consistently high levels of attainment and achievement at Braidbar; acknowledges that Education Scotland identified teamwork and positive relationships throughout the school as a particular strength, with the head teacher having a continual focus on providing staff, pupils and their families with the confidence to lead on improvements at Braidbar, and that this effort is having a beneficial effect on outcomes for children; further acknowledges that inspectors also included in the published Education Scotland report that pupils are given very good opportunities at Braidbar to be successful and that children who attend the school are developing a long list of skills through the provision of real-life learning experiences, leadership positions and clubs; notes that, on the two quality indicators of "Learning, teaching and assessment" and "Raising attainment and achievement" for the primary school, Braidbar was rated as "very good"; further notes that the nursery was also considered to be "very good" on the two indicators of "Learning, teaching and assessment" and "Securing children's progress"; understands that, because Education Scotland has determined that the school has the capacity to continue making improvements, no further inspections will be arranged to take place that are linked to the recent visit, and that East Renfrewshire Council will keep parents and carers updated with progress at Braidbar, as part of the set procedures for reporting on standards in schools within the local area, and congratulates teachers, children and everyone associated with Braidbar Primary School and Nursery Class on achieving such a fantastic set of results from the Education Scotland inspection.
