Congratulating South Lanarkshire College on Education Scotland Report
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates South Lanarkshire College Principal and CEO Stella McManus, as well as campus staff, for what it sees as the recent glowing report from Education Scotland; understands that discussions with stakeholders and middle management at the college demonstrated that the design of courses was robust, that there was autonomy in identifying and driving improvements in curriculum areas, that students felt “valued and supported” and that all teaching departments across the College work “responsibly and flexibly” to meet the needs of employers and local communities; further understands that staff made effective use of labour market intelligence, employer feedback and information from partner schools to “plan and adjust programmes to meet the needs of learners”, that there has been significant progress since the last Education Scotland report and that the college had moved beyond the actions identified in the 2022 report, and believes that this is testament to the fact that staff have gone above and beyond to support students, ensuring what it sees as a first-class learning environment for learners.
