Aberdeen Charity Ball Raises £35,000 to Help Vulnerable North East Children
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Befriend a Child, an Aberdeen charity, on raising £35,000 to help vulnerable children across the north east; understands that the charity supports children and young people living in difficult life circumstances across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire through one-to-one and group befriending and mentoring schemes; further understands that the charity supports about 250 children annually, who may be referred for a variety of reasons, such as a lack of self-confidence or self-esteem, social isolation, a lack of positive role models, or drug usage in the family; notes that monies raised at the Golden Ticket Ball event will fund 24 new places to support the needs of young people in the north east; commends the work of the charity, its sponsors and contributors for a successful event, and passes on its best wishes for continued success.
