George Ferguson, 35 Years of Service

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates George Ferguson of Comrie Fire Station on his retirement following 35 years as an on-call firefighter with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service; understands that George reported for his first drill night at Comrie Fire Station on 14 January 1988 and that, during that time, he has served with Tayside Fire Brigade, Tayside Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service as the organisation has evolved over the years; further understands that he has held the rank of fireman, firefighter, leading firefighter, crew manager, crew commander and latterly, watch commander, at Comrie; notes that colleagues, past and present, family and other well-wishers gathered on 27 April 2023 to thank him for his work; commends Mr Ferguson for his service to the fire service and his local community, and wishes him all the best in his retirement.
