Emma Scott Wins Trainee Fisherman of the Year

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Emma Scott of Lochboisdale, Isle of South Uist, who was awarded the Trainee Fisherman of the Year in the Fishing News Awards; notes that the Fishing News Awards are held annually to celebrate the achievements and innovations of people, companies and organisations across the UK and Irish fishing industry; further notes that 2023's awards witnessed a record number of nominations and votes; understands that the Trainee Fisherman of the Year award recognises the most outstanding new entrant to complete a commercial fishing training course in 2022, demonstrating consistently high levels of application, commitment, understanding of the industry, practical skills and safety awareness; further notes that Emma, who fishes from An Acarsaid Mhòr in Èirisgeidh, crews on her family’s boat, Isabella CY 464, and is working towards her skipper’s ticket with the ambition to captain her own boat, and wishes her well in her future career.
