The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Amanda Stark and Patricia Papworth, Founders of Stitch the Gap CIC, on their success at the Scottish EDGE Awards, which were held in Edinburgh on 25 May 2023 and attended by First Minister, Humza Yousaf; delights that this Kirkintilloch-based social enterprise has won investment of £50,000 in this Dragons’ Den-style competition; commends what it sees as the efforts and tenacity of the team at Stitch the Gap CIC in delivering sewing skills to repair, reuse and repurpose textiles, with tangible impacts on positive mental wellbeing and the environment; understands that the highly-competitive Scottish EDGE Awards were established in 2013 and are supported by the Hunter Foundation, RBS, the Scottish Government and Scottish Enterprise; congratulates the 24 enterprises that are sharing the 2023 £1.4 million prize pot to scale and develop their activities; wishes the children, young people and adults who take part in the activities of Stitch the Gap CIC continued enjoyment as they develop new skills and use them creatively now and in future, and celebrates what it sees as the valuable impact that social enterprises have in and beyond the communities of the Strathkelvin and Bearsden constituency.
