Maddiston Primary School Awarded Gold Reading Schools Accreditation
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Maddiston Primary School on achieving a Gold accreditation through the Reading Schools programme; notes that the Reading Schools programme is run by the Scottish Book Trust; understands that the Reading Schools initiative helps schools to build a culture of reading for learners and communities, which in turn supports equity and wellbeing, attainment levels, critical thinking, creativity, empathy and resilience in individuals; commends the work that Maddiston Primary School has undertaken since it joined the pilot scheme of Reading Schools in 2021, and the work that it has continued to do in submitting an evidence plan to earn the Gold accreditation; acknowledges that the Reading Schools programme is open to all schools in Scotland, works on a silver and gold status system and offers opportunities for collaboration between schools and development for staff, with support available from Scottish Book Trust; congratulates Maddiston Primary School on being awarded its Gold accreditation in the Reading Schools programme, and wishes all the staff, learners and families involved well for the future.
