1 July 2023 - International Day of Co-operatives, Partners for Accelerated Sustainable Development
The motion
That the Parliament celebrates 1 July 2023 as the International Day of Co-operatives with the theme, Co-operatives: Partners for accelerated sustainable development; notes that the international co-operative world has been celebrating this day since 1923 and was officially proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1995; understands that as one of the world’s oldest and largest business networks, the co-operative movement was the first group of enterprises worldwide to endorse the sustainable development goals and is a recognised partner in achieving these goals, and believes that co-operatives, working with the co-operative values and principles, have the ability to create transformative actions towards a more inclusive and resilient world by 2030.
