Orkney Netball Takes Home Evelyn Beattie Quaich

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the senior Netball Orkney 1 team on taking home the Evelyn Beattie Quaich on 3 June 2023; recognises that it triumphed over Dunedin Netball Club 2 at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow in a hard-fought game, with a final score line of 48 to 46; commends Orkney’s Zara Flett, who was awarded player of the match; recognises that the Orkney 2 team made it to the semi-finals, in the first year that Orkney has entered two teams into the Scottish Cup competition; understands that this victory, marks the first time in 13 years that Netball Orkney has won a national competition, and believes that, after the astonishing performance of Orkney’s young netballers in the junior inter-county contest against Shetland on 4 June, Orkney netball is destined for further success in the years ahead.
