Science Firm to Create 450 Jobs in Maryhill
The motion
That the parliament congratulates leading drugs safety company, Merck, in Maryhill, on creating 450 jobs; understands that the company has announced a £30 million centrepiece, which is the investment in a new 1,200sq m facility at the West of Scotland Science Park in Maryhill, which will house molecular biology and sequencing services; notes that the company will also expand testing capacity in its current buildings with more biosafety testing labs and viral clearance suites; understands that biosafety testing is a critical step in the drug development and manufacturing process, ensuring that drugs are safe and meet regulatory requirements, and believes that the high-value jobs available will provide an opportunity for more people to grow their careers in this industry.
